If money were no object, then certainly a GX. They have six trim levels, including two specifically equipped for off-roading. I am still trying to figure out why the Land Cruiser, was, for all practical purposes, announced with a measly two trim levels, street tires, etc. Personal preference, but I much prefer the frontal styling of the GX, as the LC is a bit too retro for my taste.

The nearest Lexus dealer is 100 miles away, so Land Cruiser for me.

I'm in the same boat, about 4 hours to the nearest Lexus dealer. Sad, as the GX Luxury+ was boiling down to my preference. I even tried to put a bug in their ear to build a dealership nearer. Canned answer, that they appreciate the interest and suggestion, but at least they responded.

I would inquire w/ the local Toyota store if they can(are willing to) perform your Lexus maintenance and service.

I'll be looking at the base 1958 Landcruiser once 2nd year off-lease models become available. 6000lb is plenty of tow rating for the size vehicle and the 4cyl/hybrid will be more respectful drinking $5-6 gas. The 4wd selector strategy looks better, too, with an unlocked low-range available.
Even with the raised load floor, there is still plenty of height for a low drawer deck and a dog box and fridge above it.

A self-maintenance person, periodic maintenance, i.e. oil changes, filters, etc., I do myself. Always have, always will. So, only any warranty items would be the only issue, and not really a big concern with a Lexus, or Toyota for that matter. Have owned many Toyotas over the years, and zero issues, save a recall or two.

This move is long overdue. I’ve said it for years. Once Toyota put a Lexus badge on the LandCruiser platform they should have made the LC a more utilitarian build and left the luxury to Lexus. The 2024 lineup finally does this. (Should have started in 1998 IMHO)

I’m not surprised the LC at this point has no upgraded suspension or real offroad package. The aftermarket will undoubtedly support this truck out of the gate. I welcome the ability to choose my components individually. I do expect something in the coming years or a long list of dealer upgrades much like what they are doing now with other models. The current ARB partnership is a good one.

My nearest Lexus dealership is over 3 hours away. Does not matter I’m more excited about the LC than the GX. I’m simply looking for a new daily driver right now and the hybrid is more appealing to me. Maybe someday I build this truck up a little. But for now I have my 80-Series and a 40 build in progress. No foreseeable reason to ever need the 250 more capable than it is from the factory.

After driving a hybrid for the 1st time I am sure now that I will continue to buy cars like this in the future.

Bobby, I see you, as we do, own a Highlander Hybrid. A remarkable system, no starter, alternator, or belts. No tranny clutches or bands either. Two electric motors coupled to a Power Split Device (planetary gear set). However, the LC or GX hybrids will not be as unique, and really do not gain that much MPG with their hybrid systems. Still, it is the way the industry is going. Personally, would love to have the forthcoming GX hybrid, but as with you, our nearest Lexus dealer is over 3 hours distant.
